In Memory of Boomer

April 15, 1997 to February 27, 2007

Boomer’s life is a special story about an extraordinary dog.  Before Boomer, neither of us had had a dog in many years.  When we decided to go for it, Abby chose Labrador and Bob picked chocolate boy.  We located a beautiful litter in Provincetown, whelped 4/15/97, and brought Boomer home at 8 weeks.  Sadly, Boomer was born with Congenital Megaesophagus, which was formally diagnosed at 5 months.

For nearly 10 years we had great success in managing Boomer’s health, and he lived a full life for longer than anyone imagined. Boomer was top dog in every way. He was our mature chocolate boy who managed the farm and all its inhabitants. Boomer adored the responsibility he placed on himself. Boomy was truly our miracle boy!

Although Boomer did not have perfect health, we are so thankful he was our boy, and we still feel his presence around the farm. If Abby’s sister Corey (Woodhull Labradors) was breeding in those years, we would not have had Boomer (or Wrecker) in our lives, and we can’t imagine that! Boomer really started our Labrador legacy.

Upon his death, we sent the following to many of the countless people he had touched:

To all who knew, or knew of, Boomer:

Boomer, registered Bold Boomer of Carolina Hill, went to Heaven today at about 1:30 pm.  He is no longer hungry and thirsty, and is in total comfort all the time.  We miss him terribly, but know he's with us at all times now too.  God is looking after him...

On Friday, Bob wrote to Boomer as they hung together in the garage in the evening:

Boomy my Numie...
Time for the suffering to stop.
It is your time...
Rest with Boot...
We'll catch up later.
We love you -----.

Bob & Abby ----.

That about says it all...

Boomer had Congenital Megaesophagus...  He lived longer than anyone anticipated, but not long enough in many respects...

He's our BBB (Big Brown Berry)...

Say a prayer for Boomer, he was our Top Dog and Watch Dog, and really took care of just about everything...

"See you later Boomer!"

Love,

Bobby and Abby
(Daddy and Mommy to you sweet boy)
